The Bosun’s Call
Saturday, July 5, 2025 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Hoah! Back by popular demand! The Bosun's Call presented last summer at the
site's North American War of 1812 Grand Tactical, their second time at the
historic site. Created in 2015, the group helps foster an interest in the
songs, folkways, and culture of the maritime world. Their songbook, with over 50 songs, is
researched and compiled from primary sources. During performances, they share
historical anecdotes, fascinating tales, and cultural traditions about life at
sea. The group has a sharp sense of humor as well! By singing songs and sharing
artifacts and stories, the group illustrates how all sailors coped and bonded
while living aboard ship. They honor all those who served during the Age of
Sail from Native Americans to African Americans to Anglo Americans as well as
those who supported life aboard ship including women and children. A typical performance has members
in period correct uniforms with accouterments including ditty bags (stuffed
with artifacts), walking sticks, and tankards of water. Join us! Huzza!
