Saratoga/Capital District Region


Reminiscent of an earlier era, Saratoga Spa State Park features towering pines, effervescent waters, and elegant buildings.  This national historic landmark property includes the Victoria pool, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, historic Gideon Putnam hotel and spa, Hall of Springs, Lincoln Baths, a children's pool complex, and two golf courses.

John Boyd Thacher State Park is known for its panoramic views of the Hudson and Mohawk valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park features miles of trails including the popular Indian Ladder Trail, the Thompson's Lake Campground,a nature center, swimming beach and more.

Peebles Island State Park sits at the confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers with river views along miles of paths. Picnickers and fishermen come to relax, and winter visitors can cross-country ski, hike and snowshoe. At Crailo State Historic Site learn about Dutch life in the upper Hudson River Valley through exhibits and artifacts in this unique museum. Schodack Island State Park provides hiking trails, a boat launch along the Hudson River and the newest state campground.

On a forested mountain ridge Grafton Lakes State Park offers five ponds with excellent swimming and fishing and ice-skating in winter. Miles of trails are open for hikers in summer and to cross-country skiers and snowmobilers in winter. Visit Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site where in 1777, American militiamen defeated General Burgoyne's forces. View the Interpretive signs, enjoy the scenery and stop by the visitor's center.

Moreau Lake State Park offers rustic, tranquil campsites in the Adirondack foothills along with a scenic lake and sandy beach, nature center and more than 20 miles of trails for hiking and biking. Take a drive north and explore Crown Point State Historic Site and marvel at the spectacular views and preserved ruins of Fort St. Frederic and His Majesty's Fort of Crown Point along Lake Champlain.
