Thacher/Thompson Lake State Park Master Plan Public Hearing Scheduled

Draft Master Plan/Draft EIS ready for public review and comment

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has completed a Draft Master Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for John Boyd Thacher and Thompson Lake State Parks in Albany County. A public hearing on the plan will be held on August 1 at 7:00PM in the New Scotland Town Hall, 2029 New Scotland Road, Slingerlands, NY 12159.

The master plan outlines State Parks' vision for potential capital improvements, operational enhancements and natural and cultural resource stewardship within Thacher and Thompson Lake State Parks for the next ten to fifteen years. Factors such as the availability of funding, the need to invest in rehabilitation of existing park infrastructure, and other pressing needs in the entire state parks system will influence the possibility and the timing of the improvements.

Copies of the Draft Plan/DEIS are available for review at the Regional Office, the Park Office, the agency office, and at the following libraries: Voorheesville Public Library, 51 School Road, Voorheesville, NY 12186; Berne Public Library, 1656 Helderberg Trail, Berne, NY 12023; and Guilderland Public Library, 2228 Western Ave., Guilderland, NY 12084.

The plan is posted on State Parks' website: http://www.nysparks.com/inside-our-agency/master-plans.aspx.
