The
Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) is holding a
public information meeting to discuss recreation
management and operations at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area.
Established in 1962 through a charitable gift, today the 1,594-acre park
supports roughly 20-miles of multiuse trail.
The
public meeting will be held at the Canadice
Town Hall on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 6 - 7:30 PM. At the
meeting, OPRHP staff will provide information on changes proposed to the
Recreation Area's trail system that will better support management,
environmental stewardship, and recreation goals of the park. Following a formal
presentation, there will be an opportunity for meeting attendees to share their
thoughts with OPRHP staff. OPRHP will have several operations, recreation, and
ecological experts present at the meeting to answer questions.
This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
Pre-registration for the meeting is required. Please register by emailing
ParksPlanning.Info@parks.ny.gov or by calling (518) 473-7402 no later than
Monday, March 3, at 5:00 p.m.
In
the event of inclement weather please call the OPRHP Planning Office at (518)
473-7402 to confirm whether the meeting will continue as scheduled. Should the
meeting be cancelled, a make-up date the following evening, Thursday, March 6,
2025, from 6 - 7:30 PM, has been arranged.
The
meeting is accessible to people with disabilities. Anyone who requires a
reasonable accommodation for effective communications should contact Owen Gilbo
