Archaeology and the American Revolution in the Mid and Lower Hudson Valley
Thursday, June 5, 2025 07:00 PM - 08:00 PM
August through November 1776 was a crucial window for the existence of the United States. While July of that year saw the Country's birth with the Declaration of Independence, over the next four months our fledging nation teetered on collapse. During this critical time period, New York City and Westchester County witnessed some of the Revolutionary War's most significant events allowing the new nation to endure. The historic landscapes of these events are unwittingly passed by commuters every day. This talk by Hudson Valley archaeologist Eugene Boesch will shed light on the history and archaeology of these locations, including the Battle of Pell's Point, the Battle of White Plains, and Fort Washington.
