Take a Hike with a Minnewaska Ranger
Monday, August 4, 2025 05:00 PM - 07:00 PM
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a Park Ranger at
Minnewaska? Here's your chance to meet two of our finest and to learn from them
how to be best prepared for any adventure at the Park Preserve. Your hosts,
Stephen Wokanick and Zach Wesley-Krueger, are both highly experienced Park
Rangers who have collectively worked at Parks for 25 years. They have both
participated in numerous search and rescue operations as well as many medical
crisis responses and they each have loads of outdoors adventure experience.
Come learn from the best how to be prepared for your outdoors adventure,
planning an enjoyable, safe and least impactful experience at Minnewaska. There
will be a short presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session, and a
three-mile hike along the Beacon Hill Loop. This route features a mix of
carriage roads and a footpath, and it offers beautiful views of the Wallkill
and Rondout Valleys. This program is designed for families with children old
enough to participate and who can easily hike the proposed route. Please come
prepared with appropriate shoes and gear and carry enough water and food to
sustain yourself. Meet at the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center. Pre-registration
is required by calling the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center at 845-255-0752.
