Drop-in Program: Papermaking Party at Minnewaska

Join Park Educators as we create new, colorful and interesting, upcycled paper from scraps of plain, white paper. We'll blend these scraps with water to make a slurry that we'll decorate with colorful dyes, seeds and more. Then, we'll form the slurry into individual pieces of paper, using special tools. The final step in the process is the removal of water from our new sheets of paper, which we will accomplish with a heavy press and hot iron. Once the process is complete, you can take your work of art home with you. This program is recommended for people of all ages, but children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18 years old. Meet at the Lake Minnewaska Nature Center. Pre-registration for this program is not required.
