Plovers and Painting
Thursday, April 25, 2024 01:00 PM - 02:30 PM
Green Lakes State Park
Learn about the Great Lakes Piping Plover as you paint! For 30 years the Great Lakes Piping Plovers were missing from the southern shore of Lake Ontario. In 2016 they were seen again for the first time at Sandy Island Beach State Park and had a successful nest in 2018. It takes a lot of work to keep this beautiful and rare bird safe at the park. Hear from some of their protectors about their work as you paint a picture inspired by the plover. This isn't a painting class, but a chance to enjoy some science and art together! Meet at the Environmental Education Center (West Beach Parking Lot). Registration Required: ages 10+ (children must be accompanied by an adult).
