Using a Lifetime Liberty Pass

No, your NY State Driver License can be used at all staffed facilities, campgrounds, and participating golf courses. If you go to an unstaffed location, you will have to go to the park office for a no-fee ticket, or order a Lifetime Liberty Pass ahead of your visit. For a map of unstaffed locations, please visit the bottom of the Lifetime Liberty Pass page.

Ordering a Free Lifetime Liberty Pass

In order to make sure only qualified individuals are issued a Lifetime Liberty Pass, we must request discharge documentation, or Report of Casualty information. Physical documentation is held according to NY State Archives retention schedules, and then destroyed.

No, your free Lifetime Liberty Pass order must be placed at shop.parks.ny.gov.

Military ID cards and VA Health cards don't contain all of the information we need to verify Veteran or Gold Star status. There is no character of service, and therefore we typically cannot accept them.

Orders can be cancelled for various reasons. Most commonly, we may not have received documentation determining Veteran or Gold Star Status at LifetimeLibertyPass@parks.ny.gov. If you believe that is the case, please send it there now so we can review it.

Gold Star Parent, Spouse, or Child Information

No, according to the law, the servicemember's death had to take place during active duty service. A DD‑1300 Report of Casualty is the only document that can be accepted for a Gold Star Parent, Spouse, or Child pass.

No, you as the Veteran are the only one eligible to get a Lifetime Liberty Pass. The Veteran must be present when using the pass for the benefit.

Camping with the Lifetime Liberty Pass

There's a few requirements when using the pass for a campsite or cabin rental: 1. The passholder must be the primary occupant of the site. 2. The pass and the passholder's NYS ID must be presented to staff when checking in & checking out. 3. The passholder must occupy the site during the entire permit period.

The pass will discount the nightly base rate for campsites, which is approximately $17 per night off. The base rate of cabins varies based on cabin capacity. Information on all of our campsite/cabin rates can be found Here

Most refunds are issued back to the credit card used for the reservation. In rare instances when a credit card is cancelled, or a gift card is used, a paper check will be issued.
