The State Park Acquisition Record and Document Review Project

Several State Parks under the jurisdiction of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are located within the State Forest Preserve counties as identified in Environmental Conservation Law ยง 9-0101(6). Recently, OPRHP was requested to research the acquisition history of eight Parks within Forest Preserve counties but outside of the Adirondack Park. The search was to determine if the forest preserve status of these parks was referenced during the acquisition process. This document is the result of that research.

Pursuant to the agreement, OPRHP has provided one set of relevant records to the Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks' Adirondack Research Library.

Robert Moses Parkway - North Segment

Preliminary Design

State Parks has begun its preliminary engineering/environmental review process for removal of a segment of the Robert Moses Parkway from Main Street (NYS Rte 104) to Findlay Drive, and reconstruction of Whirlpool Street as a landscaped road in this same area. On February 19, 2015, a Public Information Meeting was held at the Niagara Falls Conference Center. There was a short presentation, and boards depicting various design concepts were on display. Representatives from Parks, USA Niagara, the City of Niagara Falls and the DOT took comments from the public. Below are the items that were presented.

Comments on the project will be accepted through March 31, 2015.
